ΦΘΟΡΑ (WEAR AND TEAR) THE ACCUMULATION OF CATASTROPHES
20 March until 2 May 2025
Opening of the exhibition: Thu 20 March 2025, 7:00 pm
ΦΘΟΡΑ is a sound installation that focuses on the pressing challenges of our time. Christos Voutichtis' work combines art, technology and ecology to create a haunting reflection on the fragile state of our world. The installation defies purely aesthetic experience and challenges visitors to scrutinise in depth the fundamental crises of our time.
By capturing global seismic activity in real time and transforming it into a spatial soundscape, ΦΘΟΡΡΑ symbolises the unpredictable and destructive forces that destabilise natural and human systems alike.
ΦΘΟΡΡΑ is an impressive example of the transformative power of art, which is able to combine social, ecological and technological discourses in a physically tangible form. The work opens up perspectives for a deeper examination of the fragility and interconnectedness of our living environment – and challenges us to recognise the limits of human control and the complexity of the global polycrisis.
