BELLES VUES
28. Mai 2026 bis 12. Juli 2026
Opening: May 05, 2026, 7 PM
Martin Brüger and Albert Weis are planning a spatial installation for the Bellevuesaal in Wiesbaden as a joint and dialogical project, which will also serve as a support for sculptures, photo, and paper works by the two artists. The tall, angular wall structure consists of drywall profiles, which are partially clad with drywall and mirror panels and other panel materials, creating a loose wall grid with openings. This complex sculptural overall form responds to the architectural-spatial context of the exhibition space.
The installation demands an act of self-affirmation and self-positioning in the space when an unexpected view, a confusing reflection in the mirror panels, a surprising corner, or a barely visible narrowing or opening to the space emerges in the wall structure. The classic exhibition setting, with exhibition architecture presenting artworks, is playfully deconstructed here. Our spatial experience, indeed seeing itself, thus becomes an essential content of the exhibition and gives the name of the exhibition space, as well as the art association – "Bellevue" – a new layer of meaning.
