UNMARKED SPACE - RELOADED II

September 24 - Oktober 08, 2026
Opening and lecture: September 24, 2026, 7 PM

In the foyer of the Bellevue-Saal art association, artist Sofi Zezmer presents a temporary installation that corresponds with her exhibition *Unmarked Space* at the CANDYLAND Gallery (April-May) 2026 in Stockholm, Sweden.

The term "Unmarked Space" is primarily associated with the British mathematician, psychologist, and poet George Spencer-Brown. However, it also refers to other poetic and philosophical concepts related to naming and understanding the world.

Zezmer's work begins with the question of how language and visible signs determine our orientation. Labels create rules: they define what something is, how it is read, and what meaning it acquires and by whom. They define belonging and, at the same time, exclude. The unmarked refers to those zones that elude this system and in which meaning has not yet been established. The artist's works balance on the seam between abstraction and possible narrative interpretations, simultaneously creating tension between contradictory associations

On opening night, Zezmer will present a documentary of the Stockholm exhibition and introduce some ideas from her artistic practice. The event takes place as part of the PARTI-cipation XI exhibition. Afterwards, there will be an opportunity for discussion and exchange.
